The Bible is a mystical, mysterious and wonderful book.  Fortunately or unfortunately, its’ great mystical truths can be hidden by our own expectations or limitations.  If we expect God to be punishing, then that’s exactly what we will find in the sacred text.  If we expect God to be distant and uncaring – that’s what we’ll find.  If we expect God to be withholding of good things and playing favorites among us humans, then, guess what – that’s what we will find.

I have experienced a dark night of the soul or a crisis of faith as some would call it.   During that crisis of faith, I began to wonder about my own perceptions of God.  I began to wonder about if God might be a God of Love.  From that moment on, I began to stumble across some very interesting passages that revealed God’s great love and delight for each of us.  The more I read, the more I found.  The entire Bible came alive for me!  I reread every story, every passage that had made me question and caused me to struggle.  A whole new pattern of spiritual understanding awakened within me.  

So, if you have had a crisis of faith or don’t know what to believe anymore, I offer you the path of discovery that I journeyed upon.  Open to a sense of wondering what if, maybe, perhaps, there could be a loving Spirit of Light and Love that adores us.

Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”  If we are listening for a loving God, we’ll discover it.  If we are listening for the sacred self, we’ll discover it.   We will even discover the true chalice!
