Psychic Expo and Healing Fair

This is the 7th year the Divine Fellowship and I have sponsored the Psychic Expo and Healing Fair.  We have had difficulty over the years in finding just the right name.  We tried “metaphysical” and “spiritual” and last year settled on “psychic.”  

The Divine Fellowship’s Psychic Expo and Healing Fair is the only one of its kind that is put on entirely by volunteers.  Members of the Fellowship help organize, set up, tear down and all in all run the works without any pay.  All proceeds go to the hard costs like the building rental, advertising, and feeding our vendors on Saturday night.  I don’t know of any other Expo or show that actually treats their vendors to a free dinner.

Why does the membership do all of this? 

The Psychic Expo and Healing Fair is an outreach into our community.  This is not only a very scientific based community, it is also very religiously conservative.  Yet, there are hundreds of people who are open to the psychic phenomenon, are interested in exploring healing modalities, and who are interested in spirituality rather than religion.  Most of the time, these folks think they are the only ones or that there isn’t a spiritual support system like the Divine Fellowship around. 

This Expo is a safe environment to test things out -- see if there really is something to this psychic thing – and experience the Divine Fellowship from a distance.  Are we whacko’s or are we fairly normal?  (Whatever that might mean!)  Are we people who are out for a buck or doing what we believe?  What’s up with this stuff?

What people experience when they attend our expo, is a warm, friendly atmosphere.  We have a good variety of vendors so there are interesting things to do and see.   It is our intent to treat our vendors well so they can relax and enjoy the Expo rather than feel as if they have to contend for every dollar that walks through the door in someone’s pocket.  Many of our vendors pay for their booth for the following year at the close of the previous year’s expo.  With happy, content vendors, our guests – attendees, feel welcome and relaxed when they walk through the door.

We also “clear” and “bless” the building before any vendor begins to set up.  This removes any previous energetic clutter that might remain from any previous event.  The blessing process sets the energy pattern for “delight” and “abundance.”  This way, the vendors can receive abundantly and the attendees can receive information and experiences in an abundant way. 

Last year, I had several people come to me and tell me that they could “feel” the difference when they walked in the door.  It felt loving and welcoming.  Since the primary purpose of the expo is an outreach and the fundraiser is secondary, the money thing gets to go on the back burner and it isn’t top on the awareness chart.  We certainly hope that our vendors can make their stay with us profitable, but our primary concern is that our attendees feel good about their experience with us.
I recall the first “show” I went to.  The energy was very different from what I was familiar with and it felt funny.  I couldn’t make myself go in.  Looking back, I don’t know if the energy was bad or if it was just more concentrated than I have ever felt before, so I felt a bit overwhelmed.  If you attend our show and begin to feel overwhelmed, let me, or any other of the volunteers know!  We can help you.  Sometimes it is just a matter of getting grounded.  Sometimes it is a matter of letting go of a pattern of thought that no longer serves.  It is our goal for each participant to have a wonderful experience, so allow us to assist you in the process if need be.

This year we are trying something new.  We are adding mini workshops.  It takes away from some of the time available for free lectures, yet we felt there were some workshops that were indeed worthy of presenting.  In the future, perhaps we can find a way to have workshops simultaneous with free lectures so people can have a choice.  There are always improvements to be made.  We just want to test drive the concept to see how it is received this year.

Whether a person attends our Expo to just experience the atmosphere or to listen to a lecture or two or to buy a crystal or some apparel or a drum or to receive a reading or experience a healing modality, our show as something for everyone.  Along with that something, we hope that people experience the love with which it is offered.  Each and every person working at the Expo behind the scenes is a person who is donating their time because they believe in the Divine Fellowship and what we teach.  The funds that are above and beyond the hard costs will go to adding to our parking lot.

The Divine Fellowship Readers booth is filled with Divine Fellowship members who volunteer their time.  They do this because they believe that some folks need to test drive a psychic reading before they spend a larger sum on a full reading with one of our vendors.  These volunteers have taken classes to sharpen their intuition and to learn to trust the messages they receive from Spirit.  Volunteering gives back to the cycle of things because they remember when they weren’t sure about it.  They can hold open a door that someone held open for them.

The Divine Fellowship Healers booth is also filled with Divine Fellowship members who volunteer their time.   Also holding open a door that was held open for them.  Perhaps they received a healing that changed their life.  Perhaps they volunteer to honor the healing abilities they developed. 

It is our sincere hope that people take an opportunity to experience a sample of the psychic phenomenon and a sample of the healing modalities offered at our show.

Not every vendor is a member of the Divine Fellowship.  Many are.  We make every effort to screen our vendors for those with positive attitudes and helpful, hopeful things to share.  There is no place for creating alarm or trauma.  If one receives a healing or reading that in any way causes them concern, please let me know.  We at the Divine Fellowship make every effort to bless, comfort, encourage and support the ones we serve.  We hope that our other vendors uphold that same directive.  If they do not, they are not invited back the following year.  Some healers, readers feel that it is important to shock the client or to give them commands or should’s.  Those vendors are replaced.  We uphold that we are offering insight and it is up to the receiver to choose which path to take – that there IS choice.  Choice is the greatest gift we have been given by Spirit and to offer anything less that choice or hope or options leaves Spirit out of the equation.  It is quite difficult to be spiritual without Spirit!

Vendors have told us they would come to our Expo whether they made any money or not.  The feeling is really good and they feel blessed when they leave.  For many, our show is the first on the circuit.  Anyone who has ever worked a show or the circuit can tell you the lifestyle is grueling.  It is very hard work.  To be able to start their season spiritually uplifted makes all the difference for some.

Another Look At Entities

Recently, one of our members offered a message regarding “entities.”  Questions came up about that.  Any time we can question, it’s a good thing.  That opens us up to finding answers rather than remaining status quo.

Let’s begin by defining our terms.  What exactly is an entity.  I saw the movie “Entity” and it was quite frightening and creepy.  Is that what we are talking about?  Not necessarily.  The question is complicated.  The answer is simple, yet with many facets.  It all begins with the concept of Heaven and Hell and Passing Over and Ghosts and . . . well, it’s sounding complicated already, isn’t it?

Whatever your belief system, we can all agree that we die.  From there, our beliefs may vary.  I will share with you my understanding of this concept and you can see how it fits for you.  If it doesn’t fit, I hope this discussion helps you as you explore the question to find your own answers.

It has been my experience with the other side, that when there is a sudden, unexpected death, or unfinished business, or a great fear of hell, the essence of a person doesn’t cross over into the Light, but rather stays between here and there in a colorless, waterless place I call the Grey Place.  It is much easier to see and communicate with someone who has crossed over into the Light, because they are in the Source, have been healed, and have a spiritual form.  Those in the Grey Place are merely the essence of a person – all their faults and foibles and traumas and judgments and hurts and fears and angers are still present.  They have not received any healing nor their spiritual form, just death.

When these formless beings hang out in the Grey Place, they are searching for ways to find resolution to their lives.  Sometimes, they hang out with family to make sure everyone is okay before they go.  Sometimes, they seek someone whose light is shining brightly just like a moth is drawn to a flame.  In the Grey Place, it is neither light nor dark, neither here nor there, just a place of “is.” 

We humans are drawn to the light.  We are drawn to people of the Light while here on this earth and even more so when we are drifting in a constant twilight.  Many of us of the Divine Fellowship have souls that shine brightly and can be seen in the Grey Place by these disembodied beings. 

Once these beings come near, they can “latch on” to a part of us that is similar to themselves.  If they had very painful family relationships, and one of us has very painful family relationships, they can hang on to our pain.  It is what is common between the living being and the disembodied being.  They may not be intentionally causing us harm.  They may just be curious to see how we would handle things.  Once they see a new way of doing things, they can go on and cross over.

Sometimes, they can only see the pain, and their anger or fear feeds on our anger or fear.  They become more entrenched and we become more angry or fearful.  Sometimes, their presence can even be felt as pain in our bodies.  (Not all pain is an entity and not all entities are painful, but having an entity really can be a pain!)

When a formless being has spent a great deal of time in the Grey Place, they can loose a sense of their own humanity and merely exist as “anger” or “fear” or “sorrow” or “anxiety.”  (Last year Ruthie had a session with the Ancient Ones, and this was one of the things that they told her.)  These formless beings that have lost their sense of humanity can be referred to as a “thought form.”  Now, with that said, thought forms can be ANY repeated thought – even our own.  Any repetitious thought form floats in our aura as debris.  It takes a change of our thought patterns to release it.  Obviously, thoughts of joy and happiness isn't necessary to release - it's good to have those there!

If we are repeatedly afraid of dogs, it takes us facing our fears and petting a dog or getting to know a gentle dog that will release that old thought form.  I’m reminded of the passage, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.”  Truth is, SOME dogs CAN be mean because of how they were treated, but MOST dogs are friendly, loving, and loyal friends.

So, how does this apply to formless beings that have deteriorated to thought forms?  When we face the truth and overcome our fears and angers and sorrows and such, the though forms then are at a point of choice.  They can drift away to find someone else to hang on to, or they can cross over because they can see the truth.  They can choose to remain afraid and angry or they can choose forgiveness, healing, truth, and go to the Light. 

It is very helpful if we can assist these beings in their journey.  In the past, I was just in a hurry to send them away.  Get rid of them!  Now, I hope that they can cross over.  That is what they are craving.  They don’t need us - they need the Light – the True Source.  They don’t require our pain to sustain them - they can be free!

It is very appropriate to call upon the angels or Jesus (or whatever your belief system will hold) to assist in the process.  It may be helpful for them to have a guide to lead them to the Light.  If they believe that Jesus or God are mean and hurtful and vengeful, they may be very reluctant to go.  Calling Spirit to assist gives them the opportunity to see first hand how much love and compassion there is for them.  (There are many techniques for helping people over and that is a whole other discussion!)

What about those beings that don’t want to go or that cause us pain or dismay and are resistant to leave?  They have no right to our life, our body, or our time on earth.  They can be sent away.  Here’s the catch – we are obligated to find the hook they have attached to and clear it or they can come back and reattach, or something like them can do so. 

We often pick up these things when we are in a point of difficulty.  If I’m angry at some circumstance that I have no control over, then an entity with the same issue can attach themselves to my energy field.  The longer we hold that negative thought pattern, the more deeply they can become entrenched!  If I shift my thinking and get into a place of trust, there is nothing left for them to attach to and they are easily removed either through prayer, physically giving them the brush off, or by finding someone who can assist in pulling them away.  We’re free and they are free to choose to cross over or continue their wandering.  It is their choice and we are obligated to allow them their choice.

Now, Ruthie also mentioned about an entity joining her.  Ruthie was using the generic definition of “entity” to mean any spirit being.  She in fact was receiving a joining with a guide. 

We all have guides and angels that surround us and comfort us and assist us.  They will not, however, offer direct assistance without our expressed permission.  They are very respectful that way.  Without our expressed permission, they can only draw close and feed us the compassion they have for us and pray for us and be there for us to lean on.  When we allow them to work in our lives, they can send us signals and flashes of light to warn us or alert us or offer us suggestions for our choices. 

Ruthie had a guide that was offering to lend her energy and to assist her in seeing/hearing Spirit messages more clearly.  With her permission, she and this guide joined forces so to speak.  I personally am not joined in this way with any guide, however, I do allow the Ancient Ones to speak through me and bring their messages of love and compassion into this plane by using the areas of speech in my physical form.  I did this with only a great deal of prayer and consideration just like Ruthie used a great deal of prayer and consideration before she linked with her guide on such an intimate level.

So what’s the bottom line here?

There are formless beings out there.  They are looking for something.  They may not even know what they are looking for.  We are beings of Light in a physical form.  We are visible to them.  We may be able to assist them in finding the Light.  They can and will affect us when there is a common hook to which they can attach.  If they attach, they can feed on our negative emotions or thought patterns and cause us increased discomfort and even pain.  We are under no obligation to allow them to stay and affect our world.  It is our responsibility and right to become clear and keep ourselves clear.  Ongoing worry, fear, frustration, and anxiety may be a luxury we can no longer afford.  Angels, guides, and Divine Source are willing and able to help remove these entities when asked. Those of us with experience with these things are willing and able to help remove these entities when asked.

Not everyone has a formless being, an entity, attached – an attachment.  If you are feeling very upset or extremely different all of a sudden, you may have an attachment to be released.  If you have an old pattern of thought that hasn’t been around in ages that has popped up out of the blue and giving you trouble again, you might have an attachment to be released.  If you have a phantom pain, you may have an attachment to be released.  You may not.  The key here is to get clear of any patterns of thought that no longer serve – find the source and heal it. 

Claim the energy that heals that pattern of thought.  If it’s worry, claim trust and call it to you and apply willingness to become trustful.  If it’s fear, claim courage and call it to you and apply willingness to become brave.  That doesn’t mean that fear goes away, it just no longer rules us and we are free to make healthier choices for ourselves.  Courage is defined as being afraid and doing it anyway.  It is the 'being immobilized' that we are referring to in this discussion.  Good news!  If we are not presently willing to become trustful or courageous or whatever, we can pray for willingness and it is a FREE Gift from the Divine Source!  (How cool is that!)

Living the full, spiritual life on all levels of our being, brings us clarity and peace.  That makes us like Teflon and nothing can stick!

Remember, “God is Love” and “Perfect Love casts out fear.”  Religion may want us to be fearful, but God – the Divine Source (whatever that is for you) - wants you to be filled with, and surrounded by, Love.  If the discussion of entities caused you fear, then understanding the subject can bring knowledge.  Knowledge will bring you out of that place of fear and into a place of strength, love, and choice.

A Message from The Ancient Ones

Welcome, Dear One.  We are delighted to have the opportunity to speak with you.  Your heart has been burdened of late and we wish to ease that burden a bit.  There are many reading this, and many forms and types of burdens that each heart bears.  Yet, burdened they be and this is less that what is best for you. 

Let us address the burdens themselves at this point.  Many bear the burden of the world.  World conflict and governmental affairs weigh upon their hearts.  It is you who can change the world because your heart feels for the injustices and the hurt caused by those in power.  Realize, Dear One, that is it about power.  All of it.  Every transgression that any government makes is about power.  It is the same in families and in work groups and businesses around the world. 

What is power.  Power is the unseen, yet tangible force that tells us we exist and we live.  We on this side have an Unlimited Source of All Things and access to all energies required to take any action our hearts desire to take.  Humankind has as much access to this Unlimited Source of All Things, yet your physical form cannot carry the weight of this power.  So, each person carries a measure of this power within their form.  It can be referred to as ‘the will’ or ‘the sense of self.’  Humans can easily lose this sense of self.  It vanishes in the face of tyranny and oppression.  It flees in the face of disapproval and criticism.  When this power vanishes, humans are left to scurry around fighting for what they perceive to be power.  Some believe that political clout equals this power.  It does not, yet they squabble over it like seagulls after a bread crumb.  It is sad for us to watch this.  Those same people have power within that they cannot wield because their search for their perceived power cuts them off from the Unlimited Source that activates the sense of self.  It is only through finding one’s self that one can find true power.
Other hearts are burdened with family matters of finances.  Money is another perceived power among humans.  Certainly, one cannot buy food without it nor can one take care of one’s responsibilities with out it.  Yet, this form of power is not the true power that supports and sustains one.  Just as is so with political power, so it is with financial power.  The more one grabs for it the more illusive it becomes.  One gains financially when one, again, reclaims a sense of self.  Only when doing what one loves or loving what they do can real power manifest financially. 

Let us say this about that.  Anyone can make themselves work at any job, no matter how much distaste they have for it, as long as they have sufficient force of resolve.  Even so, there is a price to be paid in terms of health and longevity.  True financial power comes from service and from joy.  Even better of both qualities are present.  Any job can be viewed as an act of service.  Not every job can be viewed with joy.  Bringing joy into the matter transcends the forces of nature and abundance is the result.  With finding sense of self and knowing that one’s self is intact in any work, allows for the Unlimited Source to flow.  Not every human has the advanced capabilities to so.  If a human has those advanced capabilities, they will be more likely to find the work that fits the sense of self which puts them in an environment that compliments their soul.

Not everyone can be a nurse.  Yet, anyone can learn the tasks necessary to become a nurse.  Someone whose sense of self isn’t served by the work of service held in the nursing profession will undoubtedly fail and be miserable in the trying.  Yet, put a person with a sense of self that is honored in the profession of nursing and they find great joy!  And financial blessings.

We hear daily those that put off finding the job of their heart’s desire because they have financial obligations that prohibit them.  It is true that one’s family obligations and financial duties take high priority.  At the same time, we see those that find ways to serve the sense of self outside of their jobs.  These are the ones that stumble into a great opportunity that takes them away from their not so suitable job and into their true career.  We ask that you keep your eyes open to possibilities.  If you are unhappy with your work or your work environment, stay tuned!  We are attempting to send you signals that tell you which direction to take or what next step will get you closer to your goal.  Knowing there is hope will restore the sense of self and return your access to the Unlimited Source.

There are those whose hearts bear the burden of relationships that are painful.  Have hope dear ones.  The message is the same for you!  Find your sense of self and your access to the Unlimited Source will be renewed.  This will bring about a shift and a change in circumstances.  It may not bring the absolutely exact desired outcome, yet the outcome will be one that you can live with.  Often the power is lost when one feels another has taken power or is making decisions that cannot be overridden.  Know this.  Sometimes, time is your best friend.  It is uncomfortable knowing that someone else made a decision or refused to make a decision that affects our life.  Yet, holding your sense of self even when there is a feeling of powerlessness in the situation opens the door to the Unlimited Source.  Accessing the power that sustains all life brings significant change.  It is not always instantaneous, yet, in fact, that power flows when the timing is correct for the circumstance.

So, let us share with you how to reclaim this sense of self.  It is just below the surface of your awareness even if you feel as if you have lost it.  For it cannot be lost.  It cannot be taken away.  It merely submerges until one is ready to reclaim it.

We ask that you take a moment to be comfortable.  Become aware of the room that surrounds you or the surroundings where you presently exist.  Find a focus object.  A desk, a picture on the wall, a flower – something of that nature.  (Note from Janice:  This is really wonderfull!  I don’t have any idea of what they are going to show us, so this is new for me as well!)  Once you have your focus object, become aware of it.  Notice its shape and size and color.  Recognize that it is just there.  It is existing in your awareness at the same moment is it existing in your reality.  It is not you.  Yet you are aware of it fully, so it’s essence is in your awareness as well as existing outside yourself.  Now become aware of yourself.  Exclude your focus object.  Now include the focus object.  Experience the difference between holding the focus object in your awareness and excluding the focus object.  You are not your surroundings.  You are not the focus object.  You are separate and apart from the focus object yet the focus object can be within you by your choice.  One by one eliminate all the objects that surround you from your awareness.  Soon there is nothing left in your awareness other than the sense of self.  Knowing that you include the objects in your world by choice, you can find your sense of self within the world but not a part of the world. 

This is in no way in conflict with the idea that we are all one.  It is when one’s awareness is expanded that we become aware of our connection with all that is.  This process merely reduces the awareness to include only one’s own self for the moment.  Once you have reduced your sense of self to your self, you can open up to things that are burdening you.  As you open up to them, you can see that they are outside you.  Inside the sense of self, there is peace and wholeness.  Including the bothersome things is expanding the awareness to include things that are unnecessary for one’s true sense of self and sense of power.  It is from this sense of self that decisions can be made – changes begun.  If there is still conflict or burdens, release other’s opinion of you or other’s expectations of you.  Still burdens?  Go deeper still.  Release you expectations of how it should be or your opinions of others.  Underneath all of that resides the submerged sense of self. 

That sense of self gloriously awaits the touch of your awareness.  It will awaken with joy.  When it awakens or comes to the surface, you will be empowered to make some new choices.  You will be empowered to take some new steps.  You will be empowered to think in new ways.  Draw deeply from this wellspring of energy as it connects you in and locks you into the Unlimited Source.  Breathe deeply of this energy.  Know that those external burdens are being released and transformed. 

This process may be simple, but living the life this process calls for requires a willingness to return to this place frequently at first.  Once this sense of self is reclaimed and honored, it will guard your heart from harm and will propel you into joyfilled living.

Be well, Dear One.  Try our technique just to see if it feels right to you.  Know that we walk with you in all things.  We are honored that you have received our communication.  We look forward to speaking with you again soon.

Again, be well.  Know that you are loved beyond what you can even imagine.
